Spokesman of the newly-created Nigeria Army Division 7, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa told journalists in Maiduguri on Friday that army troops gunned down 50 Boko Haram members in a shoot-out to repel the insurgents from further killings at Gajiram, Nganzai Local Government, north of Borno and Bulabulin Ngabura at Konduga local government, eastern part of the state.

“Troops of 5 Brigade of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army have effectively repelled Boko Haram terrorists attack on Gajiram and Bulabulin Ngabura communities in Nganzai and Konduga local government areas of Borno State. Troops pursued the terrorists to their camps and with air support, about 50 terrorists were killed in a shoot-out.
“Subsequently, the villages have been rescued from the fangs of the insurgents. At the moment, the 5 Brigade troops are pursuing the remnants of the fleeing terrorists by blocking all possible exit routes. When the military spokesman was asked of the civilian casualties, he however, said: “The exact number is not known by the military at the moment but local authorities perhaps may have the figure”.
